This calculator is designed to give the virtual temperature of a parcel of air. Virtual temperature
is a fictitious temperature that takes into account moisture in the air. The meteorologists' definition
of virtual temperature is the temperature that dry air would have if its pressure and specific volume
were equal to those of a given sample of moist air. Virtual temperature correction allows meteorologists
to use the same temperature equation for dry air even though moisture is present. The virtual temperature
is a calculated (as opposed to measured) value based on the air temperature and the determined water
content of the air. The virtual temperature is the temperature of dry air that would have the same
density and pressure as the moist air. The term station is the designation for the vertical point that
you take your measurements; vertical meaning above (or below) sea level. The absolute air pressure is
the calculated air pressure, but not corrected for altitude. It is also called the station pressure in
weather reports from NOAA. Here is the current
